It is a film about love for motherland, freedom, and human solidarity, for which one often has to pay a high price. It tells the story of marriage of Andrzej and Joanna Gwiazda, whose extraordinary lives are strongly intertwined with the contemporary history of Poland. They participated in the events of 1956, 1968, the bloody December of the 1970. With a handful of friends they co-founded the Free Trade Unions in the 70s and started strikes in August 1980. They achieved great successes and suffered painful failures.
