The
story encapsulates changes the Czech Republic has undergone throughout the last
three decades. The film verifies how much truth some of the popular myths about
the Czechs really hold: Do they have Schweik’s traits of character? Are they a
nation, who proudly and calmly watches from the sidelines how great history is
made? Are they rebellious atheists? Are they really not putting up much of a
fight against authorities? What are the Czechs really like and what do they
think of themselves? Film creators interview well-known Czech politicians,
historians and analysts of social and political life. They also talk with
ordinary people, who occupy themselves with extraordinary things - like
Frantisek Hadrava from Šumava, a locksmith, who constructs planes.
