The Lubicz family comprises several generations and at its head there are the grandparents, Maria and Władysław. Maria runs a drugstore in her home in the Sadyba district of Warsaw. She is helped there by her daughter, Elżbieta. Another daughter, Dorota, is a nun. Paweł, her eldest son is a talented surgeon who works at a hospital and afternoons at a private clinic. Ryszard, her youngest son, is a plumber. Together with his wife Grażyna, they dream of having a child, but to no avail. All the children and grandchildren often visit the warm, friendly home of their grandparents. Shortly before grandmother’s seventieth birthday, another daughter shows up at the Lubicz household. Her name is Monika and she has been at odds with her parents for many years. Could this be a happy ending? Not at all, the first episode provides an indication of the troubles to come. The series has been on air since 1997, it is one of the longest running Polish soap operas.
