Matylda is a story about a young rebel, the daughter of a participant in the January Uprising exiled to Siberia. Dozen years passed after the Uprising – a guerrilla war that influenced the history of the Polish nation. Less than eighteen-year-old Matylda Bilińska is a restless soul, curious about the world, who is unsatisfied with the teachings instilled in girls at boarding school. Her rebellious nature means that she has to seek help from her immediate family in a charming estate in the countryside. There, she will experience her first love, discover the truth about her loved ones and learn to live on her own terms. Above all, however, she will come face to face with a deadly enemy.
Matylda is a saga of great passion, heroic struggle of good against evil, betrayal, revenge and reparation. In the background, the viewers may follow major historical events of those times.
