The solar farms will be located in the north of the country in Barczewo, Działdowo, Płońsk (two installations), and Wąbrzeźno, and are planned to begin operating in the second half of 2025.

Carried out by Energa Green Development – part of the Orlen Group – the installations in Barczewo and Działdowo, will have installed capacities of 9.4 MW and 5.9 MW respectively.

In Płońsk, two installations will have capacities of 8.3 MW and 8.7 MW, while in Wąbrzeźno the capacity will be 10.1 MW.

"Energa Green Development entered the second quarter of this year with a substantial portfolio of renewable energy projects at various stages of realization, totaling nearly 600 MW,” Sławomir Staszak, Acting President of Energa said.

“Our plan is to steadily increase this value through acquisitions or independent development,” he added.

More green energy

The company also pointed to the ongoing construction of the Mitra and Żuki photovoltaic farms located in western Poland, with a total capacity of 67.4 MW.

For the Mitra installation, with an estimated capacity of about 65 MW, Energa estimates that it could produce enough energy in a year to power over 30,000 households.

Energa also noted the imminent completion of the Żuki farm, with a capacity of approximately 2.4 MW. This installation is projected to produce enough energy in a year to meet the needs of over 1,000 households.

Both installations are expected to be finalized by the end of 2024.

Energa Green Development encompasses projects at various stages of implementation totaling close to 600 MW.

The Orlen Group, known for its refineries and fuel stations across Europe, plans significant expansions in hydrocarbons, renewables, and nuclear energy. By 2030, the Group aims to launch at least one small SMR nuclear reactor.

According to the International Energy Agency, Poland's solar power and heat pump markets are growing as one of the fastest in the EU. “Poland is pushing to become a major player in offshore wind, aiming for at least 3.4 GW of capacity by 2030,” the agency wrote.
