According to Statistics Poland, the Polish government statistical office, the numbers reflect a 35% month-on-month increase and a 30% rise compared to October 2023.
The surge comes despite declining property sales and high interest rates that continue to constrain demand.
Over the first ten months of 2024, 132,900 new housing units were launched, a 44% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The figure is only 6% below the full-year totals seen in 2021, when the market thrived on low interest rates.
Patryk Kozierkiewicz, a legal advisor at the Polish Association of Developers, told the Rzeczpospolita newspaper that the increase “may seem unexpected, given the record-high inventory of available units at developer offices and the demand barrier posed by high interest rates.”
He added: “If current conditions persist, the number of new projects should align with today’s average demand levels in the coming months. This means the monthly average for new launches will stabilize at lower levels, and 2025 will likely be weaker in this regard than 2024.”
