The proposed SMR station will also have a facility for storing spent fuel as an integral element of its construction, the ministry explained on its website.
“The general decision relates to the construction of a nuclear power plant using SMR-type modular reactors with British Rolls-Royce SMR technology and a spent fuel storage facility as an integral part of the nuclear power plant,” the ministry wrote.
The decision was issued for Świętokrzyskie Industrial Group INDUSTRIA.
The general decision entitles its beneficiary to apply for further decisions, including one concerning the location of the proposed plant and others needed to carry out such an investment.
The environment minister, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, said she believes the investment would be in the public interest and in line with the country’s energy and climate policies.
