After coming to power in December, Donald Tusk, the head of the coalition government, said he planned to create a ministry responsible for industry, with Marzena Czarnecka as its head.

“The Cabinet adopted a resolution on the creation of the Ministry of Industry, submitted by the Minister of Industry,” the Prime Minister’s Office said on Tuesday.

“The new ministry will be formed by separating from the Ministry of State Assets the organizational units that deal with the affairs of the government’s department for mineral deposit management,” the office continued.

It added that these units would be responsible for the management of the coal and non-coal mining sectors.

“It is also about the management of the coke and metallurgical industry, as well as the management of mineral deposits,” the PM office further said.
