The slight increase came on the back of a fall in petrol and diesel prices, which dropped 0.9% down on July, and 1.7% down, year on year.
However, compared to last August, food prices were up 4.1%.
The largest effect on the overall cost of a basket of goods in Poland, used by statisticians to compare prices this year with last year came from electricity and gas prices.
Utilities tariffs were hiked in July when government subsidies, introduced in 2023 to ease the burden of high bills on to householders and businesses, were rolled back.
Bills in August were 10.3% higher than last August, according to the flash estimate.
