InPost announced that this innovation allows the placement of lockers in locations previously inaccessible due to a lack of electrical infrastructure. The new machines will expand the company’s network, making it accessible to more customers.
“These advanced machines can now be installed in locations that were previously off-limits due to lack of access to the electrical grid,” said Izabela Karolczyk-Szafrańska, the company’s chief marketing officer.
“It's worth noting that we are conducting the pilot simultaneously in four European countries, providing us with unique insights into the potential for expanding our network of autonomous machines in diverse weather conditions,” she added.
In Poland, nine autonomous machines have been installed in Kraków and Gdańsk (southern and northern Poland, respectively). Late May saw the deployment of three machines in Florence, Italy.
London is also testing two machines, and a French pilot program is to launch this month near Lille, with nine parcel lockers planned for installation.
