According to Statistics Poland (GUS), in March 2024 Poland’s average corporate gross monthly wage rose by 12.0 percent year on year to PLN 8,408 zlotys (€1,942).
"This is the highest wage increase in Poland in 26 years," said Tusk.
He added that one of the reasons for the improvement was the wage increase for public workers and teachers, introduced in January.
"When you give such massive 20-percent raises to public workers and 30-percent pay increases to teachers, the market does not remain passive," he said.
"Employers, including those in the private sector, also have to pay their employees more.
"I am very happy about that.”
March's corporate employment decreased by 0.2 percent year on year and fell 0.1 percent month on month.
