The Marriott Bonvoy Group confirmed on Tuesday that the 525-room Warsaw Marriott Hotel will no longer be part of its portfolio following a legal row with the owners of the iconic skyscraper where the hotel is housed.

In a statement, the group told industry website Hotelarz.pl: “We confirm that the Warsaw Marriott Hotel is no longer part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

“This decision was made after careful consideration, and our current priority is to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible for guests and employees.

“Managing the Warsaw Marriott Hotel for over 30 years has been a privilege. We wish the hotel team much success in continuing to run the facility.”

Opened in 1989, the five-star Warsaw Marriott was the chain’s first hotel in Central and Eastern Europe.

From the outset, it was one of the most recognizable buildings in the city and a symbol of wealth and luxury.

Over the years, its opulent rooms and suites, offering stunning views of the capital’s skyline, were home to some of the world’s leading dignitaries, presidents, and celebrities.

But recently the owners of the building, the LIM Center company, have been having legal disputes with the Marriott Bonvoy Group, which led to proceedings before the International Court of Arbitration in London.

Following the row, the Warsaw hotel will now have to operate under a different name.

The Marriott Bonvoy Group says it wants to ensure that the change is smooth and hassle-free for both guests of the five-star hotel and the staff working there.

The group added in its statement to Hotelarz.pl: “Poland remains an important market for Marriott International: our local portfolio includes 23 hotels and our development plans include opening 10 more properties over the next few years.”
