Andrzej Sapkowski, a fantasy writer and essayist, revealed that he had finished writing the book, which is a prequel novel in the series, in an exclusive interview with Chimères, a French magazine.
Based on adaptations of Slavic mythologies, The Witcher saga comprises six fantasy novels and 15 short stories. It has also become a popular computer game, which helped put the Polish gaming industry on the global map, and was even adapted for a Netflix series released first in 2019.
Sapkowski said that it is a prequel to his first novel, Blood of Elves, and centers on the protagonist, the White Wolf.
The Polish version of the book is due to be published by the end of this year, while translations will come out in 2025.
The last time he published a novel from the series was in 2013.
The saga is set in a land that was inhabited by elves thousands of years ago and revolves around a “witcher” called Geralt of Rivia, or White Wolf, the protagonist. “Witchers” are monster hunters with superhuman powers tasked with killing dangerous beasts.
