The ride will take place on Saturday evening, with skaters asked to gather at 7:30pm in front of the monument of Polish astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus. The route is 17 kilometers long.

Drivers and passengers of public transport should expect difficulties on the streets of Śródmieście, Wola and Ochota.

Around 1153 people have reacted to the event on Facebook.

“The last ride together this year is a great opportunity to spend an evening in a positive atmosphere, full of smiles and energy! Bring a great mood with you and join us!” the Facebook event description read.

It added that skaters at all skill levels are welcome.

The city hall announced that the police will watch over the security of the event participants.

"The police will be watching over the safety of the participants. Officers will temporarily stop traffic on the streets through which the column of roller skaters and inline skaters will pass," the city hall said.

A medical team will also be on site.

The event, which is free, is organized by Polskater, a Warsaw roller skating association. It is the 10th night skating event of its kind.

Polskater formed in autumn of 2009 when a group of rollerskating enthusiasts decided to organize night skating rides in Warsaw. The starting point of the ride was always at the Copernicus monument. Back in the day, it differed slightly because it started later, at around 10pm, and would end at sunrise down by the bank of the Vistula river.
