In line with a long-standing tradition, the event was accompanied by an exchange of snowboarding and kitesurfing boards with the mayor of the southern city of Zakopane, one of the country’s leading destinations for winter sports.
The exchange occurred on the famous Sopot pier, the longest wooden pier in Europe.
Sopot has long been regarded as Poland’s premier seaside resort, with its wide beaches, elegant hotels and bustling nightlife pulling in more than two million tourists each year.
Its sea-bathing facilities officially open in mid-June when the beach season starts in earnest.
In April, a survey of experts, travel bloggers, and influencers put Sopot Beach on the Beach Atlas’ list of the world's top coastlines, sandwiched between Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach and Varadero in Cuba.
