Euro Aqua congratulated Kacper Stępień on their social media, saying that it is the “biggest common carp in history.”

Officials who oversee fishing at the lake said: “We are so happy for you Kacper to share this moment together [...], we will never forget this day.”

The claim of the Friday cath was contested by some commenters on Euro Aqua’s social media, although what remains indisputable, is that it is definitely among the largest specimen of its kind ever caught.

The largest-ever carp of any subspecies caught, a mirror carp, weighed a remarkable 51.2 kg, and was caught in 2018 in the same Hungarian fishing lake.
