With over 238,000 votes cast, Magellan won the vote with a 52.6% lead. The runner-up, Italian manul Fellini took home the coveted 3rd place trophy winning against German manul Stubsi. Magellan’s popularity stems from his adventurous spirit. In 2020, he made a daring escape from the Poznań Zoo, evading the zoo’s security measures, including a roof net and electric shepherds. The escapade captured the hearts of animal lovers worldwide, leading to his new moniker, “Magellan,” after the renowned explorer. Manuls (also known as Pallas’ cats), the species Magellan belongs to, are known for their agility and elusiveness. They primarily feed on small rodents and birds, making them efficient hunters. Despite their wild nature, experts assure that manuls pose no threat to humans. In their natural habitat, these felines can be found prowling the mountains of central Asia.

The Manul World Cup 2023 on the X social media platform has ignited a passionate debate among cat enthusiasts, showcasing the charm and captivating nature of these unique creatures.
