Starting this weekend, the country will face intense gales and snowfall, with wind speeds in some regions reaching up to 100 km/h. Low-pressure systems will drive an atmospheric front across Poland, with meteorologists warning that this shift will bring heavy snowfalls to many regions and trigger a rapid deterioration in weather conditions.

Meteorologist Michał Kołodziejczyk said: “The weather breakdown will bring a gale in the west with winds well over 100 km/h.
“The wind will blow powerfully in the belt from the British Isles, through Spain, France, to the Benelux countries and Germany, with Poland caught in its path.”

The first noticeable impact in Poland will be rain and snowfall beginning Friday, accompanied by strong winds, although these will be weaker than those seen along the coasts of the UK or France.

The south-east will be particularly vulnerable, with gusts from the south reaching 75 km/h to 90 km/h.

The Tatra and Sudeten mountains will see the highest winds, up to 90 km/h, leading to snowdrifts and blizzards.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has warned drivers to be cautious, as fog is forming across Poland and significantly reducing visibility.

The approaching weather also brings the risk of icy roads and freezing rain in the days ahead.
