Locals in the town of Sopot have been infuriated at the sight of scantily clad tourists wearing bikinis, swimsuits or swimming shorts in the streets, in restaurants and even museums.
Organized by the city, the "Stop nudity in the streets" campaign has been running every year since 2018, and has the goal of reminding tourists of the "basic rules of summer savoir-vivre".
The initiative has proved popular with locals, with the majority of Sopot's businesses participating in it.
“From the very beginning, the campaign has attracted significant interest from Sopot business owners, who willingly display stickers with the slogan 'We do not serve improperly dressed customers' on shop and restaurant windows,” said Bartłomiej Barski, president of the Sopot Tourist Organization.
“And it works, with fewer people appearing in public places in revealing swimwear," he added.
