Israeli troops launched raids inside Lebanon on Tuesday after carrying out two weeks of devastating airstrikes against Hezbollah's command structure and weapons sites.
Responding to requests for help from Polish citizens stranded in the country, Poland’s foreign ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski said the government had agreed to come to the aid of those still in the country.
He said: “Departure is still possible because charter flights are still being conducted, although most airlines have already suspended connections to Lebanon.
“We have carefully mapped out residents in Lebanon who have ties to Poland but are primarily Polish citizens.”
He added Warsaw had also ordered a reduction in its embassy employees in Beirut in the upcoming days, following the lead of other states.
In addition to transporting Poles from war-threatened Lebanon, the ministry is coordinating humanitarian assistance for the country.
