During a visit to Kyiv on Monday, Annalena Baerbock assured Ukraine of Berlin’s full support in its defense against Russia.

Baerbock arrived in Kyiv in the morning for her eighth visit since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

“For almost 1,000 days, Ukrainians have been longing for peace,” she said.

“We as the German federal government, as the largest country in Europe, know our responsibility,” Baerbock added after meeting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. “You are not alone.”

Sybiha said that in talks with Baerbock, he discussed the “need for decisive action” in response to North Korean involvement in the war in Ukraine.

“We call on Europe to recognize that North Korean troops are conducting an aggressive war in Europe against a sovereign European state,” he added.
