Speaking at a joint press conference with Harris in the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszów, Tusk also praised Ireland for the humanitarian aid it had provided Ukraine and spoke of “the common views” shared by Poland and Ireland.

Referencing recent incursions into Polish airspace, Tusk said: “We are dealing with incidents in airspace, which should provide sufficient justification for everyone in Europe to take very seriously the Polish-Greek initiative for a joint European plan to build a dome over the European sky.”

Noting that such a project would need to be jointly funded by other European countries, Tusk said: “I count on Dublin to support Polish arguments regarding such co-financing" of a defensive and air protection system.

Tusk also praised Ireland’s commitment to helping Ukraine. “The world is beginning to understand better, following the example of Ireland, that military neutrality should not under any circumstances mean indifference to evil, to aggression and to the tragedy of innocent people,” he said.

Harris, meanwhile, said Europe needed to develop an economic agenda for Ukraine so as “not to take a step back.” Having signed an aid agreement in Kyiv on Wednesday, Harris also pledged to provide continued support for Ukraine.
