“Moldova is under threat… is undergoing a reform agenda and enjoying amazing success in the number of reform areas,” pointed out our guest.
The International Republican Institute regularly conducts polling in Moldova regarding attitudes towards joining the European Union.
In the latest survey from September, 63% of respondents expressed a desire to join the EU. The results of the most recent survey are not yet compiled, but Mr. Nix predicts that number will be even higher.
“So again, the EU is opening the door to something that Moldovan people strongly support,” he emphasized.
Our guest also talked about the issue of Ukrainian accession to the EU, which is more complex and problematic given the ongoing war, but
support among the country’s inhabitants towards both EU and NATO membership has grown considerably, according to polls cited by Stephan Nix.
Georgia’s and Armenia’s accession to the EU was another topic of the interview. Our guest explained the mood in the societies of these countries and the
problems they will face on the road to entry into the European community.
