Duda’s five-day visit to China comes on the heels of Vladimir Putin’s series of meetings with top Chinese officials, including the country’s leader, Xi Jinping, where they discussed mutual military and economic cooperation.

Referring to the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between both countries, he said: “Regardless of all the events and storms that have blown across the world, various changes… Polish-Chinese relations have always been based on mutual respect and mutual recognition, which is very important to me. I would like them to always remain that way.”

Duda also referred to Poland's strategic location at the crossroads of East-West trade routes, stressing the significant opportunities it offers.

“I attach great importance to ensuring that the storms of history and all these ongoing war situations, difficult for us in Europe, do not disrupt the idea of economic cooperation between Poland and China,” Duda continued, stressing the importance of mutual trade exchange.

He went on to say that it is essential to ensure that “current global challenges” do not hinder economic collaboration between the two nations.

Premier Li Qiang echoed the sentiments of friendship and trust, recalling the establishment of a strategic partnership between Poland and China in 2016.

He highlighted the significant trade growth, which reached $42 billion in 2023, doubling the figure from eight years prior.

Li added that China would continue to “follow the strategic guidelines of our President in developing relations with Poland” to deepen political trust, enhance economic cooperation, and strengthen their partnership.

The meeting was set to continue with a scheduled discussion between President Duda and Chinese leader Xi Jinping later in the day.
