Kosiniak-Kamysz met with South Korea's Shin Won-sik at the Defense Ministry's representative center on Thursday.
At a joint press conference, he revealed that the talks focused on cooperation between the Polish and South Korean arms industries and the purchase of equipment for the Polish Army.
The deputy prime minister announced that the signing of further executive contracts for Korean equipment is likely to take place at the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce in September. He said that discussions on the financing of these contracts are “very close to finalization.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that this primarily concerns another executive contract for the delivery of 180 K2 tanks.
The contract for the first 180 machines is currently being implemented; the framework agreement includes a total delivery of 1,000 machines to the Polish army, which will be an adapted version of the K2PL tank.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said the K2s will be built in Poland, stating that the goal is for some of the tanks from the contract scheduled for September to be constructed at Polish plants.
He added that he had received assurances from the South Korean side about the smooth transfer of the required technology.
