According to the daily’s report published on Friday,
the number of attacks has increased by 60% since January and within the last six months by 130%.
The paper quotes an analysis by the American-Israeli multinational company Check Point Software Technologies, which states that Polish companies are the victims of cyberattacks nearly 1,430 times a week.
However, in Czechia alone, institutions must counter more than 2,000 attacks per week.
Check Point also revealed that in April 2024, about 55% of the computer threats on Poland’s internet were due to malware websites and applications, adding that some 45% of the attacks were based on e-mail.
In over a third of the cases, infected documents had the .exe extension, while one in ten ended with .doc or .pdf.
The study also noted that the most active allegedly pro-Russian group of hackers was NoName057(16) and that, this year alone, it had hit, among other targets, Polish Radio, the coastal Gdynia Port, and the GOV.pl websites.
