Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz told private broadcaster Radio Zet on Thursday that he saw the operation as part of a ‘whole plan’ for deepening Poland’s defenses.

He said: “I'll interpret this issue a bit more broadly, as a strengthening of the border. We are repairing the dam on the Polish-Belarusian border and strengthening it.”

Addressing the construction of bunkers, he said: “Let's not reduce it to one single action, but approach it as a comprehensive strengthening process.”

He added that there are military units stationed in central and eastern provinces giving support to the Border Guard.

Continuing, he said that a plan is already in place, involving the presence of the national army and allied troops and counteracting any possible movement through Polish territory.
