Szymon Hołownia, who previously ran in 2020 and garnered nearly 14% of the vote, said that he is committed to being independent of party influences.
Addressing potential criticism about his political affiliations, he added, “Yes, I built Poland 2050 with these wonderful people, but I will remain independent. I won’t be taking calls from any prime minister telling me what to do.”
He added: “I want to be an independent candidate and an independent president.”
Hołownia also talked about his vision of a presidency that transcends party lines. “I want to be president for the people, not for a political party. The only banner I will stand under is the white and red flag of Poland.”
With a view on the broader political landscape, Hołownia said, “Poland’s future isn’t about whether PiS (Law and Justice) or PO (Civic Platform) wins but about electing someone capable of piecing the country together.”
Poland’s next presidential election is scheduled for May 2025. Hołownia, who finished third in 2020 behind President Andrzej Duda and Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, aims to leverage his independent stance to win the five-year term.
