The news service cited three anonymous EU diplomats as saying the foreign ministers of the so-called Weimar Triangle, a regional alliance of France, Germany and Poland set up to develop a shared vision for Europe and forge closer ties between the three countries, will be accompanied by Kaja Kallas, the EU’s head of diplomacy.
They said the trip was still in the planning stage with no formal date set, but that Radosław Sikorski, Annalena Baerbock and Jean-Noël Barrot intend to present a united front to the administration of the 47th U.S. president, who is due to be sworn in on January 20.
Polish diplomatic sources have indicated the trip will take place following the appointment of Trump’s secretary of state, widely expected to be Marco Rubio.
News of the visit comes amid talk by Trump of imposing trade tariffs on European countries and a high-profile bid to secure Greenland from Denmark.
