The President is also scheduled to speak during
the opening session of an event on building global resilience and promoting sustainable development through infrastructural connections at the United Nations General Assembly.
Canada
On Friday and Saturday, the President will meet with the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, Ms. Janet Austin, in Vancouver, and will lay flowers at the
Holocaust Memorial in British Columbia and the grave of the founder of the
Canadian Polish Congress of British Columbia branch, Mr. Jakub Chaim Kaliski, on the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Subsequently, a meeting is planned with the Premier of British Columbia, Mr. David Eby, and participation in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Canadian Polish Congress of British Columbia branch.
The next day, he will meet with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Justin Trudeau, at the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt naval base, during which he wants to discuss
the idea of increasing NATO defense spending from 2 to 3% of GDP. According to the president, this is an extremely important issue in the context of an effective response to ongoing Russian imperialism.
“We will be together - in the second largest Canadian military base -
discussing the upcoming NATO summit, European security, how to support Ukraine
more efficiently, but above all, I want to discuss the idea of raising NATO defense spending from 2 to 3% of GDP,” he said.
As he pointed out, this is an “extremely important” issue in the context of
“building the European security system” and “providing an effective response to
ongoing Russian imperialism.”
“This response, in my opinion, is necessary,” Duda emphasized.
In Canada, Andrzej Duda will also meet with representatives of hydrogen companies.
“We are the third largest hydrogen producer in the EU, fifth in the world,” he emphasized, adding that the talks will focus on the development of modern hydrogen technologies, including the use of this element in the automotive industry.
There are several scheduled meetings with Canadian local government representatives, Polish communities, and representatives of industries in which Poland and Canada collaborate closely.
