The authorities issued 316 search warrants on Friday morning.
Romanian police said in a statement that hundreds of buyers, along with a company that delivered weapons to Romania, had broken rules on arms.
“The company in question delivered weapons and ammunition to Romanian buyers through courier companies that introduce the goods into the country, without stating this fact to the customs authorities,” the statement said.
“Today’s activities are carried out in the context of measures ordered by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in order to combat crime of any kind and to ensure public order and tranquility,” police added.
