On March 24 at 4:23 a.m. (0323 GMT), there was a violation of Polish airspace by one of the cruise missiles launched overnight by long-range aviation of the Russian Federation," the armed forces said on the social media platform X.
The object
entered Polish space near the town of Oserdów in eastern Poland and stayed there for 39 seconds, the armed forces added. During the entire flight, it was observed by military radar systems.
"Tonight, all necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace were launched. Among other things, Polish and allied aviation was activated," it was reported.
As assured, the Polish Army
constantly monitors the situation on the territory of Ukraine and remains constantly ready to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.
Western Ukraine under attack
Since early hours, the entire Ukraine has been under an air alert and its citizens have been advised to seek shelter.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app there were several explosions in the Ukrainian capital after air defense systems were engaged in repelling the attack.
Ukraine air defense forces
destroyed about a dozen of Russia-launched missiles over Kyiv and in the vicinity of the capital, Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv's military administration, said on the Telegram.
Preliminary information showed no casualties or major damage as a result of the attacks, he said.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said on Telegram there were no attacks on the city but some 20 missiles and seven attack drones had been launched against the broader Lviv region, targeting "critical infrastructure".
Russia has been pounding Ukraine for days in attacks portrayed by Moscow as revenge for Ukrainian attacks during its recent presidential election. Some experts believe that the recent terrorist assault near Moscow was a “false flag” operation aimed at linking it with Ukraine, which could serve as a pretext to intensify Russian warfare against its western neighbor.
