Russian troops are reportedly positioned approximately 12 kilometers from Pokrovsk, a vital transportation hub in eastern Ukraine. The city’s strategic importance has made it a focal point in the ongoing battles as Ukrainian forces strive to maintain control over critical supply lines.
“The commander reported: Pokrovsk and other directions in the Donetsk region - it is extremely difficult there; key Russian efforts and the largest forces are concentrated there. The steadfastness of each of our units and our ability to destroy the occupiers are very important right now,” said Zelenskyy.
In addition to the escalating conflict in Donetsk, Zelenskyy addressed Ukraine's military activities beyond its borders.
General Syrskyi also briefed Zelenskyy on the progress in these operations, noting the expansion of Ukrainian control over certain areas in the Kursk region.
Zelenskyy linked these operations to Ukraine’s broader efforts to secure the return of Ukrainian prisoners from Russian captivity, a critical aspect of the ongoing conflict.
International Support
Zelenskyy stated the significance of global assistance in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression. He urged Ukraine’s allies to step up their endeavors to counter what he characterized as Russian "terrorism," stating that this should not be accepted as the “new normal” for Europe.
The President also urged for the lifting of restrictions on Ukraine’s ability to conduct long-range attacks, arguing that such capabilities are essential for ending the war swiftly and justly.
“We continue to insist on decisions now—on lifting restrictions on Ukraine conducting long-range attacks, which will help us end the war as quickly as possible, in a way that is fair for Ukraine and the entire world,” Zelenskyy said.
