The foreign minister was interviewed by Poland’s state news agency PAP in connection to his recent joint appearance with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba at the Campus 2024 socio-political conference.
“Over several hundred years between neighbors, the balance of wrongs is never just 'one way’,” Sikorski said.
He added that both countries should instead focus on a shared future rather than past conflicts. However, he said that the past is important and that Polish victims of the massacre deserve a Christian burial.
Andrzej Poczobut
Sikorski also expressed deep concern over the situation of Andrzej Poczobut, a journalist unjustly imprisoned by the Belarusian regime three years ago now.
He said that while there has been indirect contact with Poczobut, the news about his condition remains grim.
Sikorski added that Poland is continuing to explore various strategies of exerting pressure on Belarus to secure Poczobut's release. He pointed out that the Belarusian regime knows what actions are necessary and expected if it seeks any improvement in relations with Poland and the European Union.
