In an interview for TVP World, Piotr Kaczyński, an EU expert at the Geremek Foundation, said Scholz’s position on Ukraine reflected domestic concerns.
“We need to hear from President Zelenskyy, what he has to say on the matter. What has changed? Because the terms of negotiations are super important here, if there is a new process coming up,” Kaczyński said.
“Every previous peace process that Ukraine was putting on the table, Russians were saying: ‘Absolutely not. Let's talk about our conditions,’ and Ukraine says ‘absolutely not’. So is there something new here or not? This is a big question because Mr. Scholz, well, he's coming out of a very difficult situation in Germany, so maybe he needs quick success outside,” Kaczyński said.
“{Let’s} be cautious about it and let's see what happens. (...) I would be very surprised if it's going to be positively received in Moscow,” Kaczyński added.
