Fuel in storage tanks at the targeted terminals was reportedly used for Russian military purposes.

The drones hit the terminals of Tambovnefteprodukt and Enemskaya in Tambov, some 500 kilometers east of the Ukraine-Russia border, and Enem, roughly 250 kilometers north of the city of Sochi. The latter facility is owned by Russian oil producer Lukoil, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

In the town of Enem in the Adygea region, a fire broke out at a fuel depot as a result of a drone attack, with the blaze now extinguished, regional governor Murat Kumpilov said on the Telegram messaging service.

In the town of Tambov, a fuel tank caught fire at a major oil refinery, “probably as a result of a drone attack,” said the head of the Tambov region’s government, Maksim Yegorov.

The Russian Defense Ministry has reported that 15 drones were destroyed or intercepted in Adygea in the North Caucasus, as well as in the Krasnodar Krai, Bryansk, Rostov, Belgorod, and Oryol regions.

A source was cited by Interfax-Ukraine as saying: “SBU attacks on companies working for the Russian military reduce the resources with which the enemy [Russian military] can wage war, and force the aggressor state to spend on infrastructure reconstruction.

“This is an additional burden on the Russian budget, already burdened by sanctions and other economic challenges. The SBU will continue to work in this direction.”

The Interfax-Ukraine agency reported that so far SBU drones have carried out nearly 30 attacks on oil infrastructure in Russian territory in various regions of the country.

Earlier, the AFP news agency reported that Ukrainian drones had attacked fuel terminals in several Russian regions.

The drones hit locations including Slavyansk-on-Kuban, a town in Krasnodar Krai, where one person was killed, the region’s governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, reportedly said.
