The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the case has been reported to the consul in New Delhi, India. He also noted that “due to the nature of the matter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not provide further information.”
The incident reportedly occurred last Monday. That day, hotel staff in the city of Chattogram in Bangladesh allegedly found the bloodied body of a foreigner in one of the rooms.
According to passport data, the deceased was a Polish citizen. As preliminarily determined by the local police, who were called to the scene, the man arrived in Bangladesh on February 24 for business. He was a quality control inspector for clothing and worked for the Polish clothing company Big Star.
A representative of the company told PAP that at this stage the company declined to comment on the matter.
The information was first reported by the Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star. “The police found signs of injuries to the back of the head and other parts of the body, indicating that it could be a murder. It was also noted that his room had been ransacked,” told Mustafijur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, to the newspaper.
