‘Campus - the Future of Poland’ was created four years ago by the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, and describes itself on its website as “a unique event dedicated to young people actively participating in social and political life in Poland.”

Inaugurating the fourth Campus, which will last for a week, Trzaskowski highlighted that “Campus is a unique place and initiative. There is no other such socio-political festival in this part of Europe,” Poland’s state news agency reported.

The mayor was joined at the inauguration by the prime minister, Donald Tusk, with whom he will debate in the evening. Other high-profile names attending this year’s event include the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, European Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová, the foreign minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, and the former prime minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, as well as Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

Polish politicians in attendance will include the foreign, justice, health, sport, education, and equality ministers, according to Polish Radio.

The event will group around 1,300 attendees and feature some 200 speakers discussing topical issues grouped into five themes: domestic and global security, future skills, social inclusivity, ‘comfort of living,’ and technology and the economy.

In addition to political panels and social discussions, the event will also feature a cultural program including theatrical performances, concerts and meetings with renowned artists.

Trzaskowski noted during his opening speech that to date more than 5,000 young people have taken part in Campus events.

“This is an army of committed people, young people who care about Poland, who want to talk about what is most important to us,” he said.
