The fire, which was visible from several kilometers away, broke out at the facility in the town of Koniecpol around 9 p.m. Wednesday night and affected an area of 2,000 square meters.
More than 100 firefighters from 33 fire departments fought the fire, but no casualties were reported.
Brigadier Paweł Liszaj from the Częstochowa Fire Department confirmed early Thursday that the storage site was still burning but the fire had been brought under control before dawn.
“The fire was massive, but thanks to the efforts of our teams, we managed to contain it before it spread further,” said Liszaj.
Officials reported that the hall contained a mix of wooden elements and plastic, but no hazardous pollutants were released into the air.
“We are pleased to report there is no danger to the community,” said Brigadier Aneta Gołębiowska, spokeswoman for the Provincial Fire Service in Katowice.
This is the second fire at the facility in five years. In 2019, a fire of cardboard and plastic broke out at the site.
