Authorities have not disclosed any information about the man’s motive, and it remains unclear whether the threat was credible.

The 34-year-old was detained after threatening to detonate an explosive device aboard a Ryanair flight on Monday, according to Border Guard spokeswoman Justyna Drożdż.

She added that the suspect also physically assaulted another traveler and repeatedly struck the plane’s window and seats.

The situation unfolded soon after the flight took off from Kraków-Balice International Airport. The captain swiftly decided to turn the plane back to the airport, prioritizing passenger safety.

After landing, the man exited the jet without resistance. However, during questioning, he became aggressive again, necessitating the use of restraints and handcuffs, said the Border Guard spokeswoman.

The flight resumed its journey to Paris after the situation was brought under control.
