Over a million customers are without electricity following recent mass attacks by Russia on Ukrainian energy facilities, as stated by Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Oleksiy Kuleba, on Friday. Kyiv has requested assistance in power supplies from Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.

“Temporarily, hundreds of thousands of households are without electricity. We are working to restore power and water supplies to people and businesses. The situation is particularly complex on the left bank of the Dnipro,” Kuleba wrote.

In response to the emergency situation in the energy system, Ukraine has reached out to Poland, Romania, and Slovakia for assistance in power supplies, as announced by the Ministry of Energy in Kyiv.

“Efforts are underway in the most affected regions to connect critical infrastructure facilities to backup power sources,” the ministry explained.

Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities during the night and early Friday severely damaged the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant in Zaporizhzhia. Two missiles hit the dam of the power station on the Dnipro River, resulting in the shutdown of two generating units.
