The General Command have appealed to the public that blood type 0 Rh+ is urgently required.

“Blood type 0 Rh+ is urgently sought, but any other type is also needed; any amount and time is of the essence,” the General Command wrote on social media.

“Our Brother was wounded with a knife while on duty at the border, he is currently in a hospital in Hajnówka and is fighting for his life,” the communiqué said.

Wounded with a knife

The soldier was stabbed last week. The attacker was a migrant from one of the groups transported by the regime from Minsk to the border with Poland.

Two border guards were also wounded, taking blows to the face with dangerous tools. The wounds required stitching, while their lives are not in danger.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk's response was to announce that the buffer zone on the border with Belarus be expanded. It will reach about 200 meters into Polish territory and cover about 27 places.

Interior and Administration Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said on Monday that the government needs a few more days to announce a regulation on the zone’s expansion.

The head of the Interior Ministry instructed the Podlaskie (north-eastern region) governor to hold talks with, among others, the local population, local businesses, and national parks located in the area.
