Officers detained two men, aged 23 and 24, and confiscated 1 million złoty (€230,000) worth of drugs and around €47,000 in various currencies in the swoop in the southeastern Polish city of Przemyśl.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Police (CBŚP) carried out the operation alongside counter-terrorism officers.
“The information obtained by uniformed officers indicated that in Przemyśl, individuals belonging to the Polonia Przemyśl [sixth division football club] hooligan community were introducing significant amounts of narcotics into circulation,” said CBŚP spokesman Krzysztof Wrześniowski.
“The investigators' findings also indicated that the criminal drug-dealing operation was taking place in one of the tenement houses in the city center and took place during the day, and the drug dealers were not hiding it at all,” Wrześniowski added.
He said that the group’s activities had become a noticeable social problem, endangering the lives and health of many people.
The detained men were charged with participation in an organized criminal group and introducing significant amounts of drugs into circulation. The court imposed a temporary arrest order on them.
