Malinkiewicz is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Saule Technologies, a next-generation solar technologies company, overseeing the cost-effective production of flexible and semi-transparent perovskite solar cells using advanced printing techniques.

Unlike traditional silicon solar cells, these cells offer higher efficiency, even under artificial light, expanding their potential applications to a wide range of surfaces such as walls, roofs, and floors.

In her acceptance speech, Malinkiewicz highlighted the transformative potential of perovskite solar technology in democratizing access to clean energy.

“We say that necessity is the mother of invention, and we all need clean energy. Making my research accessible to people has always been the essence of my work as a scientist,” she said.

She pointed to the simplicity of manufacturing these cells through printing methods, which promises scalability and cost-effectiveness in large-scale production. The Polish scientist also received the Popular Prize at the European Inventor Awards, highlighting the importance of her work. The European Inventor Award, organized by the European Patent Office (EPO) since 2006, celebrates inventors whose creations advance technology and enhance quality of life. This year's ceremony in Valletta, Malta, also honored inventors in categories ranging from industrial manufacturing to artificial intelligence.
