The 23-year-old named Jörg S. was detained in the southwestern town of Zgorzelec on Tuesday as part of a joint security operation with German and Austrian agencies.
According to the authorities, Jörg S. founded and actively participated in an organization classified as a terrorist group with a neo-Nazi agenda.
A statement by Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) said the group’s stated aim was the violent overthrow of Germany’s social and political system.
The organization reportedly planned to establish an autonomous entity in the eastern German regions, adhering to Nazi ideology and operating independently of the German state.
The international operation resulted in the arrest of eight individuals in total across Germany, Austria and Poland under European Arrest Warrants, with approximately 20 locations searched for evidence.
The organization’s members reportedly engaged in paramilitary training and amassed equipment, including camouflage uniforms, combat helmets, gas masks and protective vests.
