Border Guard officers recorded 669 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border last weekend (April 12–14). Migrants attacked Polish services several times with stones and branches.

On Friday, 219 attempts to illegally enter Poland were recorded; on Saturday, 276, and on Sunday, there were 174.

There were also several cases of aggressive behavior on the part of migrants. A stone struck a Border Guard officer on the shoulder during one incident.

Officers also provided medical assistance to nine migrants.

Border patrols fended off 220 attempts to illegally cross the border, when migrants formed a large group last Wednesday.

The Border Guard’s X account noted that the “migrants were aggressive; they threw tree branches and stones. Dangerous tools were confiscated from foreigners.”

This month’s numbers represent a significant uptick in comparison to earlier in the year. The Polish Border Guard had recorded 1,142 attempts by March 13.

By contrast, between April 4 and 7, when the weather became notably warmer, there were 1,047 illegal attempts to breach the Polish border from Belarus, which included items being thrown at the patrols and three injuries to Polish patrolmen.
