“It is with great sadness that we announce that on the afternoon of June 6th, at the Military Medical Institute in Warsaw, surrounded by the support of family and fellow soldiers, a soldier of the 1st Armored Brigade who was stabbed has passed away,” the General Command stated in a post on platform X.

“Despite the aid provided at the site of the criminal attack at the border with Belarus and the efforts of doctors, his life could not be saved,” the General Command wrote.

The Command also mentioned that the soldier’s family has been given support and psychological care, and “further assistance, both psychological and organizational, will be provided according to the family’s needs.”

The soldier was attacked early on May 28th near the border area of Dubicze Cerkiewne in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. He was stabbed in the chest.
