The creation of Polish architect Paweł Grobelny, the project titled “In harmony with nature - The development of the waterfront of Lake Slupeckie in Poland” was recognized as the best in the world in the Landscape Design category.

Commenting on the installation, judges said: “This project is a perfect example of blending design with respect for the natural environment and history.

“The focus on smaller elements not only enhances the landscape but also encourages active use of the space.”

Lake Słupeckie is an artificial reservoir close to the town of Słupca in west-central Poland.

The lake is a popular spot for recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and boating.

In addition to the piers, Grobelny’s design includes picnic and viewing platforms and an illuminated swimming pool with heated water.

Grobelny told architecture magazine A&B: “The individual piers are placed in places where reeds naturally occur, so walking on the piers allows for different perspectives of observing nature.”

Already well-established in the architectural design world, the latest award further cements Grobelny’s reputation for creating attractive, practical, and nature-friendly public spaces.

His urban furniture designs already adorn many European cities and can be seen in, among other locations, the Albertine Garden situated in front of the Royal Library in Brussels and in the largest urban park in Shanghai.
