Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were forcibly detained for 24 hours and handed a European arrest warrant by U.K. authorities. The charges, dating back to 2012–2015, include allegations of sexual aggression,” their PR team stated. The warrant originated from the Westminster Magistrates Court. “The Bucharest Court of Appeal is expected to reach a critical verdict today concerning the execution of the warrant,” the PR team added.

The court had yet to determine the timing for its session to address the warrant and was not immediately accessible for comment.

Andrew Tate, known for promoting a masculine lifestyle and amassing millions of followers, was indicted in Romania in June alongside his brother and two Romanian women on charges of human trafficking, rape, and participating in a criminal organization to exploit women sexually. They have consistently denied these allegations.

The case has been under review by the preliminary chamber of the Bucharest court, which must decide whether to proceed with the trial. A verdict is pending, given the backlog in Romanian courts.

The Bucharest Court was also set to adjudicate on Friday whether to uphold a seizure of Tate’s assets enforced by Romanian prosecutors at the beginning of 2023.

The Tate brothers were kept in police custody during the criminal investigation from late December 2022 until April to prevent potential flight from the country or tampering with evidence. Subsequently, they were placed under house arrest until August.

Currently, they are subject to judicial oversight, a less stringent precautionary measure that entails regular check-ins with the police but allows freedom of movement within the country, barring departure abroad.
