The individual was trying to cross the border near the Bieszczady Mountains that straddle southern Poland and Ukraine. He came prepared, equipped with camping gear, including a sleeping bag, hiking boots, a raincoat, and a rope.
His daring plan unraveled as he sustained a serious leg injury during a risky leap from the train, prompting a swift response from Ukrainian border guards, who located and rescued him, Polsat said.
Soon after the rescue, administrative proceedings against the man began.
In Ukraine, mandatory military service applies to male citizens between the ages of 18 and 60, with many being conscripted due to the ongoing conflict with Russia, compelling many to seek alternative ways to avoid service.
